Growing up in New Mexico and working in healthcare, research, and now national security-related work has given me a broader perspective on how deeply stability affects people’s lives. Safe housing, financial security, education, and community health are all connected. When people are constantly worried about housing or basic needs, it becomes much harder to focus on long-term goals, education, or opportunities for growth.
My education in Global and National Security has strengthened my understanding of how institutions, policy, and public systems shape communities both locally and globally. While my field may seem removed from housing at first, I think many of the same ideas apply: strong communities are built through stability, trust, accountability, and investment in people.
I hope to contribute to Albuquerque by continuing to build a career rooted in responsibility and public service while also remaining connected to the community around me. My experiences working in emergency healthcare showed me how economic instability and lack of support systems affect families across New Mexico. Those experiences continue shaping how I approach both my education and myprofessional goals.
Long term, I want my education to help me contribute to institutions and work that create stability, protect
communities, and improve opportunities for future generations in New Mexico.
