Faith Vicente

2025 Scholarship Winner

Faith Vicente is a first-year medical student at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. She is from Isleta Pueblo and is passionate about advocating for Native American health. She graduated from Los Lunas High School and was accepted into the UNM Combined BA/MD Degree Program, where she received a BA in Health, Medicine, & Human Values and a BS in Psychology. During her undergraduate years, she has developed an interest in rural medicine while shadowing a family medicine provider in Roswell, New Mexico. She has gained further experience by working as a student autopsy technician and emergency department scribe. Faith remains dedicated to her goal of pursuing a career in forensic pathology and continuing to advocate for the preservation of Native American customs.

How will you build a better Albuquerque?

I will utilize my position as a physician to advocate for improved access to healthcare in tribal communities. Through my work, I will demonstrate culturally competent care that honors the diverse backgrounds of our state.
