We Are Somos: Albuquerque's International District Is Getting Something Special

Somos (from the Spanish "we are") is a mixed-use, mixed-income apartment community coming to 7200 Central Ave SE. It's designed for people who want more than just a place to live. It's for people who want to belong somewhere.

About the neighborhood: The International District has long been a hub of Albuquerque's Latino, immigrant, and multigenerational communities. 🏠 Somos is a mixed-income community with 59 affordable housing units and 11 market-rate units, all in the same building, with the same quality finishes and amenities.

👴👩 About 80% of units are reserved for households with at least one person aged 55 or older. The remaining 20% are open to residents of all ages. Whether you're settling into a new chapter or just want a diverse, multigenerational neighborhood, Somos is built with you in mind.

🎖️ Somos gives priority preference to veterans in the application process as a meaningful way to honor those who've served.

🚌The nearest transit stop (the ART International District Station) is just a 2-minute walk from your front door. Somos also features indoor bike storage, two EV charging stations, and a dedicated rideshare pickup/drop-off area.

🛍️The ground floor of Somos includes commercial space designed for neighborhood-serving shops and dining. Sol Housing is working with local business incubation programs to bring small, locally-owned businesses to the space so you can shop local without going far.

Somos is developed by Sol Housing, an Albuquerque-based nonprofit that has been creating quality affordable housing since 1993. The building was designed by Hartman + Majewski Design Group, with construction by local firm HB Construction, an all-local team invested in making this a community landmark.

Somos is also on track to achieve LEED-H Platinum certification, one of the highest standards in sustainable building design.
